Know and Tell Friday

I am sure that Kayren and her brilliant Nancy Drew mind is thinking that today we are going to be doing more questions regarding relationships, marriage, etc., because yesterday was my 15th anniversary and Reese's was three weeks ago. She always looks for clues to this week's KATF. Unfortunately, I have a confession to make: We totally forgot that it was Friday. Our normal routine is that Reese & I will discuss our questions and figure out which ones we want to use on Thursday afternoon. Yesterday at about 3 my time (11 pm Reese's time) I realized that we had totally forgotten what day it was and completely failed to come up with questions or a theme.

Tonight when I came home I asked my family to think of questions, but they were not very helpful. In fact, my hubby's question was "why do you close the bathroom door when no one else is home?". I'm sure you all want to answer that question.

Here we go, it's another random week:

1. Which is worse: speaking to a large crowd or working under an impossible deadline?

2. Could you work with your best friend?

3. Do you eat seafood?

4. What is the worst thing you have ever eaten?

5. Which would make you feel more appreciated by your DH / SO: bringing home flowers, doing a chore without being asked, or asking you on a “date”?

6. What is something fun you are going to do today?

7. What qualities you look for in a friend … in other words, what causes you to really “click” with someone?

Heather's Answers:

1. Which is worse: speaking to a large crowd or working under an impossible deadline? A large crowd! I can't even imagine speaking to a group of people. I won't even talk during a bible study. One on one I do just fine, put me in a group of more than 4 or 5 and forget about it, I'm quiet!

2. Could you work with your best friend? Yeah! Depends which friend you were talking about. I think that I could work with Reese but I think I would drive her crazy. Apparently at the office she is Miss Flylady herself, and my life at work is total and complete chaos! My boss is definitely one of my best friends and we work really well together. I think I could work with several of my friends.

3. Do you eat seafood? No, you couldn't get me to eat seafood. I hate the smell, the look, it grosses me out. In fact about a year ago my friend Holly and I ditched our kids, went out for dinner with my boss, Kevin and they both ordered clam chowder. I looked around the restaurant and realized that everyone there was eating seafood and I left the restaurant. I thought I was going to be sick, walked home and left poor Holly & Kevin to eat all on their own. I don't think I will ever live that one down.

4. What is the worst thing you have ever eaten? That would be these terrible, nasty olives that Reese made me eat at Saturday Market a few years ago. I tried to "take it like a man" but it was truly terrible. She doesn't understand how I can watch Man v. Wild and I have no clue how she can eat those terrible olives.

5. Which would make you feel more appreciated by your DH / SO: bringing home flowers, doing a chore without being asked, or asking you on a “date”? That would either be the flowers or the date. But, the think the date would win out. We don't get to spend a lot of time together due to his work schedule, so the few times we can grab time where we can just chat and catch up with our lives is always a blessing.

6. What is something fun you are going to do today? I am going to Portland with my boss which is always fun. He had to have foot surgery last week and today is a check up. After the check up it will be lunch, shopping at the mall and my favorite store REI.

7. What qualities do you look for in a friend … in other words, what causes you to really “click” with someone? Honesty, sense of humor, trustworthiness. I rely on my friends to be honest with me and to tell me when I am out of line. I need people like Reese in my life to encourage and lift me up but at the same time we have enough freedom in our relationship for her to tell me when I need to change my perspective. It's also really important to be able to laugh until you cry and just have an awesome time together.

Reese's Answers:

1. Which is worse: speaking to a large crowd or working under an impossible deadline? I don't do well with impossible deadlines. I'm a fairly tense and uptight person (but God is changing me!!!), so any sort of pressure that is over-the-top isn't good. I actually have harbored an until-now-secret fascination with public speaking. I think if I had something to say and got used to it I'd really enjoy it. I'm really looking forward to taking the speech classes that will be required to get my degree.

2. Could you work with your best friend? Yeah, but it seems like it would get in the way with work! I usually make friends, at least at some level, with people I work with. I've never worked with Heather, but I'm sure I could. I would just close my eyes when I walked by her desk.

3. Do you eat seafood? Only fish, and only if it's very mild and I'm in the right mood. I call shrimp the bugs of the sea and if you think about it that way it's nearly impossible to munch on their fat, chewy little bodies.

4. What is the worst thing you have ever eaten? Hm... I guess shrimp and their fat chewy little bodies.

5. Which would make you feel more appreciated by your DH / SO: bringing home flowers, doing a chore without being asked, or asking you on a “date”? I appreciate them all more than words can say at the moment, but I'd like the date most because it involves a significant chunk of time. Time is valuable.

6. What is something fun you are going to do today? I'm going to get my kids ready for camp. Not sure how fun that will be, but I do think they will have fun and grow spiritually while they're there so I'm excited that they're going! I also have a standing date with dishes, and probably more dishes after that. I'm hoping to get around to making potato bread, if it's not too hot today.

7. What qualities you look for in a friend … in other words, what causes you to really “click” with someone? I like people to be real. I appreciate when they are the same to my face as behind my back; so no "two-facers" are allowed as my friends. Beyond that, I look for friends who are fun and who challenge me.

  3. I guess I should clarify the olive thing. I love plain, normal, boring black olives. What Reese handed me was some fancy big green gormet olive that had some kind of terrible cheese stuffed in it and it had been soaking in garlic. She was in heaven, I was not! LOL!

    It was pretty funny ;)
